International travel’s hefty price tag puts vacations like these out of most parents’ reach. And it can be a source of tension that baby boomer grandparents have the resources while their adult children might not.
You are absolutely correct but in my experience a grandparent-grandchild vacation is a win-win on a couple of fronts. Spending alone time with your grandchildren is precious and priceless. Their parents are then able to enjoy their own “me” time. International travel may be prohibitive so I suggest you start small. Take an extended weekend trip within a 200 mile radius for example or check out some of the fantastic deals at Disney. The most important thing is to spend quality time with your grandchildren.
